Vocational Services
Initial Needs Assessment An initial needs assessment takes a holistic approach to identify the needs of an injured person. It establishes the current status of the injured person, identifies barriers to return to work and assists the person to develop clear rehabilitation and vocational goals. At the completion of an initial needs assessment, we will be able to formulate an action plan with clear recommendations to the insurer to overcome barriers and achieve realistic goals. Vocational assessment A vocational assessment can assist an injured person to see opportunity in a different vocational direction. The assessment incorporates findings from a structured interview, formal assessment tools that measure personality, interests and aptitudes, and current labour market information. The aim is to identify realistic and achievable career options at a time where vocational redirection is required due to functional or psychological impairment or restrictions. Transferable Skills Analysis This analysis provides detailed information regarding the skills that a worker has obtained throughout their work history and personal interests and activities that are easily transferable to alternative vocations. The goal is to assist the worker in exploring career options that are compatible with their physical and psychological tolerances and in which they have the necessary skills base to be successful in obtaining and maintaining employment. Job Placement Services At Catalyst Injury Management we can support a person seeking employment with a professional resume and the skills needed to successfully job search and interview well. The goal of this service is to provide all of the necessary tools required to obtain employment in the specific field of interest. Host Placement Host employment programs are designed to return an injured worker to employment in a safe and graduated manner. Further benefits of host placements for the worker include: § The opportunity to gain new skills in an alternative vocation § The opportunity to seek employment through industry contacts § Obtaining a current referee for future employment We have wide industry contacts and a number of employers who are sympathetic to those with injury and who may be able to assist in the initial placement for an injured person. Employability assessment Combining a thorough objective Functional Capacity Assessment with a specific and goal directed Vocational Assessment can give both the injured worker and the referrer a clear vocational base from which to work. With the clinical and analytical skills of a physiotherapist, psychologist and rehabilitation counsellor merged together, an Employability Assessment can be just the catalyst needed to focus a person’s goal.
